Jörmungandr

Jörmungandr's presence is a force of nature, an entity so colossal that his body forms a ring around the entirety of Gigornia's world. His scales are as varied and deep as the ocean's colors, from the darkest abyssal black to the vibrant blues of a sunlit sea. His eyes are like lighthouses, guiding or forewarning those who dare travel his vast domain.

According to legend, Jörmungandr was born from the depths of Gigornia's greatest ocean, a being whose purpose was to bind the world's waters, containing their primordial chaos. His growth was ceaseless, each passing century adding to his length, until he was able to encircle the world, biting his own tail, a symbol of the world's unending nature.

The most significant event tied to Jörmungandr is the Calming of the World's Fury. A time came when Gigornia was racked by tsunamis and storms that threatened to wash away the land and its inhabitants. As the people despaired, Jörmungandr tightened his coil, calming the raging waters and restoring balance to the world. This act, however, was not without consequence. The tightening of his body caused parts of him to sink beneath the waves, creating new lands in the process.

This event is commemorated every year on the Day of the Serpent's Embrace. On this day, the people of Gigornia cast floral garlands into the sea and craft circular wreaths to honor the World Serpent's eternal cycle. They celebrate the balance of life, the storms that test them, and the calm that brings new beginnings, all under the watchful gaze of Jörmungandr, the Endless Enveloper.
