Nebulist

Subclass of: Wizard

Nebulists are a distinct breed of wizards whose fascination lies not within the ancient texts of arcane libraries, but in the boundless mysteries of the Hollow Expanse and the vessels that navigate its vastness. They are the astral cartographers and pilots of the arcane, merging their magical prowess with the mechanics of starships. At the core of a Nebulist's study is the integration of their very being with their ship, at the base of their neck is an arcane port that can be connected directly to the ship for control and an unparalleled piloting experience. With abilities enhancing their navigation, ship attunement, and even the casting of protective spells on their vessels, Nebulists are masters of cosmic exploration. Through their unique bond with their ships, they unlock the secrets of the cosmos, making the infinite expanse of space feel a little more like home.

Nebulists are wizards who have turned their eyes from the dusty confines of libraries and repositories and instead looked upwards towards the vast unknown of the Hollow Expanse. Nebulists study the inner workings of the ships that fly through the Hollow Expanse, harmonizing them in the process and become expert pilots, before taking to the stars for adventure and exploration of the great unknown.

2nd-level Nebulist feature

While in the Hollow Expanse, you always know the origin location of the last planar portal you passed through as long as it’s within 100,000 miles. You have advantage on skill checks made to find planar portals and avoid environmental hazards while flying a ship.

Harmonized Vessel

6th-level Nebulist feature

You are able to attune yourself to a specific ship after spending three consecutive days integrated to the ship while piloting it. This process causes the ship and your body to magically harmonize with one another at a specific frequency. While harmonized to a ship, you always know the exact location of it while it is on the same plane of existence as you. Additionally, while resting on a harmonized ship, you gain the benefits of a long rest after resting for 2 hours less than you normally would have to.

You may only be harmonized to one ship at a time. The harmonization ends if you go longer than 72 hours without piloting your attuned ship, or if you choose to end the harmonization as an action.
