Path of the Tethered

Barbarians who follow the Path of the Tethered see rage not as destruction, but as attachment. Their fury binds them to others - through force of will, through instinct, or through sheer presence. They share wounds, mirror actions, and become an inescapable force on the battlefield. Once they rage, someone is coming with them - whether they want to or not.

Furious Link (3rd Level)

When you rage, you can create a magical tether between yourself and a creature you can see within 60 feet.

The creature must succeed on a Charisma saving throw (DC = 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Constitution modifier), or become tethered to you for the duration of the rage. A tethered creature has the following properties while the rage lasts:

  • Damage Share. When the tethered creature takes damage, you can use your reaction to take half of the damage they would have taken.

  • Dragline. When you move, the tethered creature is pulled 5 feet closer to you (if willing or if you are larger than they are).

  • Fated Mark. You have advantage on attack rolls against the tethered creature.

You can only have one creature tethered at a time. The link ends early if the creature moves more than 120 feet from you, or if you become unconscious.

You may attempt to tether a new creature once per rage.

Echo of the Bound (6th Level)

You can copy movements or abilities of those you're connected to. While a creature is tethered to you, you may mimic one of its actions once per turn, as part of your own attack action. Choose one:

  • If they made a melee weapon attack on their last turn, you can copy the same attack type (e.g., shove, trip, disarm).

  • If they cast a spell or activated a magical effect, you gain advantage on saving throws against that same spell or effect for 1 minute.

You can use this feature a number of times per Long Rest equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum 1). This effect does not apply if the ability, spell, etc. was cast from an item or a creature’s feature that the DM deems impossible.

Relentless Pull (10th Level)

The tether becomes harder to break, and your grip becomes literal. When a tethered creature moves away from you willingly, you may use your reaction to pull them 10 feet closer after their movement ends. If this causes them to end adjacent to you, they take force damage equal to your Rage Damage bonus.

You also gain the ability to use Grapple or Shove as a bonus action once per turn, but only against your tethered target.

Bound by Fury (14th Level)

You can anchor yourself to multiple fates, creating a web of inescapable rage. While raging, you may tether up to two creatures at once. Both must be within 60 feet when you rage, and both must fail their saving throws.

You may choose to split your reaction-based features (like Dragline and Damage Share) between the two targets, choosing which one to affect each time.

When a tethered creature drops to 0 hit points or dies, you may immediately attempt to tether a new creature within range as a free action.
