College of Dreams

Bards of the College of Dreams do not simply tell stories - they guide minds into the hidden realms between sleep and waking. Within dreams, they twist perception, evoke vulnerability, and strike with the elegance of thought made manifest. These bards are masters of serenity as weapon, and slumber as shield.

Dream Slumber (3rd Level)

When you cast a spell that incapacitates a creature, you can choose to put them into a magical sleep (as if affected by the sleep spell), even if the spell wouldn’t normally do so. This sleep lasts for 1 minute or until the creature takes damage or someone uses an action to wake them.

At the end of each of its turns, the creature can make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC, ending the effect on a success.

Dreamstep (3rd Level)

As a bonus action, you can teleport up to 10 feet to an unoccupied space you can see. You can do this a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.

Lucid Nightmare (6th Level)

While a creature is under the effect of your Dream Slumber, you can cast spells on them as if they were conscious and willing. Additionally:

  • When you cast a spell that deals damage to a creature affected by Dream Slumber, you can change the damage type to any type of your choice (fire, cold, psychic, etc.).

  • Once per turn, the first damage dealt to a creature in Dream Slumber is maximized.

Dream Puppeteer (10th Level)

While a creature is in Dream Slumber, you can use your bonus action to issue a dream-command. Choose one:

  • Move: The creature moves up to half its speed in a direction of your choice.

  • Speak: The creature speaks a short sentence of your choosing.

  • Disarm: The creature drops one item it is holding.

Sovereign of Sleep (14th Level)

When you cast a spell that puts a creature to sleep or causes the Incapacitated condition, you can choose one of the following effects:

  • Nightmare Collapse: The creature immediately takes psychic damage equal to your Bard level + Charisma modifier.

  • Echo in Eternity: The creature can’t be woken by damage; only a successful saving throw or someone using an action to shake them awake will do so.

Additionally, when in Dream Slumber, the creature’s movement speed is halved, and it has disadvantage on all saving throws against your Bard spells.
