College of Clay
Bards of the College of Clay blend artistry with arcana, animating creations through song and sculpting golems, figurines, and homunculi into loyal companions. Unlike traditional summoners, they don’t call forth beings - they build them. Their magic molds matter, imbuing it with expression, emotion, and purpose.
Sculpted Servitor (3rd Level)
You craft a loyal animated assistant from clay, wax, wood, or bone - an extension of your art and voice.
Clay Homunculus. You gain the Find Familiar spell and can cast it without material components. When you cast it, your familiar takes on a custom form - your Clay Homunculus - with the following traits:
It uses the familiar stat block with these additions:
Bardic Link. As a bonus action, you can deliver a Bard spell with a range of touch through your homunculus.
Inspiring Chime. Once per turn when you give Bardic Inspiration, your homunculus can move up to 30 feet and deliver it instead of you.
If it drops to 0 hit points, you can rebuild it during a Short Rest using your Calligrapher’s or Potter’s Tools.
Artisan's Tools. You gain proficiency with Potter’s Tools. You can use them as your spellcasting focus.
Bardic Golemancy (3rd Level)
Your Bardic Inspiration physically manifests into motes of sculpted magic.
When you give a creature Bardic Inspiration, choose one of the following Golemancy Forms:
Earthen Shield. The creature gains temporary HP equal to the number rolled on the die + your Charisma modifier.
Gritstep. The creature’s speed increases by 10 feet until the end of their next turn and ignores nonmagical difficult terrain.
Echoing Clay. If the creature misses with an attack, it may reroll the attack roll once. This consumes the Inspiration die.
Animated Ensemble (6th Level)
You can animate minor constructs to aid you in battle or performance.
Crafted Companion. As a 10-minute ritual, you can sculpt a Medium or smaller animated construct (e.g., a humanoid puppet, a clay animal, or a faceless mannequin). It uses the Animated Armor stat block with these changes:
It obeys your verbal commands.
It adds your Proficiency Bonus to its attack rolls and saving throws.
It lasts for 10 minutes, until it drops to 0 HP, or until you create another one.
You can use this feature once per Long Rest or expend a 3rd-level spell slot to use it again.
Earthen Empathy (10th Level)
You form a deep bond with your creations.
Shared Senses. You can see and hear through your homunculus or construct as long as it is within 1 mile.
Molded Will. Your homunculus can take the Help action as a bonus action, and can deliver cure wounds, heroism, or healing word through your voice if you cast it.
Additionally, your Crafted Companion’s HP equals 5 × your Bard level, and it adds your Charisma modifier to its damage rolls.
Grand Golem (14th Level)
You manifest your magnum opus: a towering sculptural defender.
Songbound Golem. As an action, you summon a Large clay, stone, or bronze golem from the ground or nearby materials. It uses a modified Flesh Golem stat block with the following changes:
It is not berserk and follows your commands.
It has resistance to psychic damage and gains temporary HP equal to your Bard level when summoned.
It lasts for 1 minute or until it drops to 0 HP.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a Long Rest or expend a 5th-level spell slot.
