Path of the Oni

Barbarians who follow the Path of the Oni embrace monstrous power, either through dark pacts, ancestral inheritance, or forbidden rituals. Marked by horns, crimson or cerulean skin, and lightning-charged rage, these warriors embody the fury of oni legends - terrifying, fast, and destructive.

Visage of the Oni (3rd Level)

You take on fearsome oni traits—curved horns, flashing eyes, and skin of crimson, cerulean, or jet black. You gain proficiency in Intimidation. If you are already proficient, your proficiency bonus is doubled for that skill.

While you are raging, you emit faint sparks and a low thunderous hum. You have advantage on Charisma (Intimidation) checks made to frighten or coerce creatures during combat.

Lightning Quick (3rd Level)

You move with explosive speed and resist storm-force attacks. While raging, your speed increases by 10 feet and you gain resistance to lightning and thunder damage.

Lightning Strike (3rd Level)

You channel electrical fury into your blows. The first time you hit with a melee weapon attack or unarmed strike on each of your turns while raging, the target takes extra lightning damage equal to 1d6 + half your Barbarian level.

Thunderous Roar (6th Level)

Your rage erupts in a booming burst. When you enter your rage, you can unleash a roar of thunder.

Each creature of your choice within 20 feet that can hear you must make a Constitution saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier).

On a failed save, a creature takes 4d6 thunder damage and is deafened for 1 minute. The creature can repeat the save at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect early on a success.

On a successful save, the creature takes half damage and is not deafened.

You can use this feature once per rage.

Frightful Presence (10th Level)

Your oni power strikes fear into all who see you.

When you enter your rage, each creature of your choice within 60 feet that can see you must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier) or be frightened of you for 1 minute.

A frightened creature can repeat the save at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.

A creature that succeeds on the initial save is immune to this effect for 24 hours.

Psychic Requital (14th Level)

Your strikes deliver a surge of lightning that can paralyze your foes. When a creature takes damage from your Lightning Strike, you can use a bonus action to attempt to stun it.

The creature must make a Constitution saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier).

  • On a failed save, the creature takes 1d6 + half your Barbarian level lightning damage and is stunned until the end of its next turn.

  • On a success, the creature takes half damage and is not stunned.

A creature that succeeds on this saving throw or is stunned by this feature is immune to it for 1 minute. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier per long rest.
